BIDDEFORD — Jeannette A. Johnson of Biddeford and Windsor Locks, CT passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Bickford Health Care, Windsor Locks, CT following a long and fulfilling life.
Jeannette (Jan) was born June 20, 1931, in Biddeford to the late Albert and Albertine (Brulotte) Chretien. She attended school in Biddeford and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.
Shortly after marrying, Jan moved to Windsor Locks where she raised her two sons Steven and Timothy. She was an Auxiliary member of the Smalley Brothers VFW Post 6123 and worked for many years as a Technical Manual Editor at Hamilton Standard, retiring at the young age of 58. In her retirement, Jan returned to Maine, and enjoyed spending winters at her home in Bonita Springs, FL along with her much loved sisters Yvonne and Rita. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, traveling, sewing, the daily crossword, finding yard sale treasures, was a dedicated Jeopardy fan, and an avid reader. She would go to the library every three weeks checking out 2-3 books and was certain to have them read in time to return by the due date.
Jan is survived by her son Steven Johnson of Windsor Locks, CT; daughter-in-law Cynthia Nunes Johnson of Windsor, CT; grandsons Casey and Connor Johnson of Windsor, CT; Tyler Johnson and fiancée Jennifer Bugbee of Monson, MA; granddaughters Nicole Johnson of Windsor Locks, CT; Chauntelle Masslon of Colebrook, CT; brother Normand Chretien and wife Bonnie of Ottawa, IL; sisters-in-law, Loraine Chretien of Biddeford; Sandra Taylor of Windsor Locks, CT, and many loved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Besides her parents, Jan was predeceased by her son Timothy Johnson, longtime companion Joseph Binette, sisters Yvonne Gallucci and Rita LeBlond, brothers Victor “Mel” Chretien, and Robert Chretien all of Biddeford.
Visitation will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005 on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 am. Arrangements are being managed by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford, ME.
