Systems Administrator

The Maine Trust for Local News is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our IT team in South Portland, Maine. This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security of company computer systems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support Mac and Windows client and server operating systems.
  • Basic user management, including network account setup and email configuration.
  • Supports mobile devices including, but not limited to, smartphones and tablets.
  • Set up and break down of computer hardware.
  • Monitoring the network for vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Deploys phone hardware and software, including the setup of all user configurations.

Our Ideal Candidate has/is:

  • Experience with servers and networks, as well as upgrading hardware and software
  • Skills to troubleshoot networks and the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Up-to-date on the latest security protocols for the LAN and wide area network (WAN) and be able to educate users on how to handle suspicious emails and requests for sensitive information.
  • Ability to program scripts to run internal functions and have sufficient server operating system knowledge.
  • Thrives in a deadline and support ticket-driven environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to listen to and interpret client requests.
  • Experience working as part of a help desk team
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT support experience preferred

Physical Demands:

This role will require walking to user’s desks to help them with an issue, and requires occasional travel between METLN locations. Additionally, the position may be required to assist the team with the setting up and tearing down of hardware requiring lifting, twisting, bending and carrying of materials up to 30 pounds to/from a venue or between offices
