BUXTON – Ruth K. Mougalian, 88, formally of Buxton, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023.
Ruth was born in Bremerhaven Germany in April 1935. She came to the U.S. in 1951 with her mother and stepsister. They settled in the Greater Portland area where she later met and married her husband, Robert Mougalian, in 1953.
Ruth had several jobs over the years including Merrill Transport, was a self-employed seamstress, taught German, and was a Weight Watchers lecturer. She joined Robert in his rug business in 1977 where she worked by his side until 2000, when they sold the business to their son, Randall. Ruth enjoyed cooking, sewing, going to the gym, travel and most of all cross-country skiing. Ruth and Bob both loved skiing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and also made several trips to Europe to ski in the Alps.
Ruth is survived by her sons Ronney, wife Jeannette and Randall, wife Beth; grandchildren, Dale Mougalian, Melissa Smith, husband Mike, Brett Mougalian, wife Emily, Lynn Copp, husband Jason, Kristen Frank, husband Brent; along with eight great-grandchildren.
Ruth is also survived by her brothers-in-law Raymond Moughalian, wife Terry and Alfred Moughalian, wife Winnie.

Per Ruth’s wishes there will not be a funeral service and burial will be private. There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 22 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Portland Elks Lodge, 1945 Congress St., Portland.
