While the Sunday Comics section gets blander and blander, “Doonesbury” seems destined for oblivion. First it was moved from the comics pages to the Insight section, then it was made so small as to be practically illegible, and now it has been moved from the front page of the section to the back page, and in black and white instead of color. Soon I expect it will disappear completely.
Doonesbury is the smartest, most incisive and relevant social commentary that there is. That’s why it won a Pulitzer Prize. And, yes, it is also funny! Please put it back where it belongs: full-size, in color, in the Sunday Comics.
