Democracy is a team sport. We, the people – unenrolled, Green, Republican or Democratic – make it happen.
Perhaps we’re tempted to say, “I don’t do politics,” “I’m too busy” or “It’s too depressing,” but our country asks us to be informed, show up and speak up. That keeps the power with the people. Political careers start at home, so we need to pay attention.
Many Maine school board and city-town elections are happening on June 13. Watch for candidate forums now and in the fall before November elections. Please visit lwvme.org/LocalGov to learn more about your town or city, or Google lwvme.org.
We don’t have to do it all, or do it alone, but we’re all on the team. Participate in candidate forums, research the issues, run for office. Use your power. Vote.
