Kevin Fahrman, 67, of Falmouth, died unexpectedly. Fahrman was the driving force behind the Valentine’s Day hearts spread across Portland every Feb. 14. “He was big in stature. Big in love,” his wife Patti Urban said. Contributed / Patti Urban

A heartfelt farewell to our beloved Valentine’s Day bandit, whose incredible and simple acts of kindness will undoubtedly remain very much alive in the memories of so many thankful hearts.

Such a selfless gift can, it seems, have no place else to go but to overflow back onto others and keep on strengthening the heartbeat of a city for generations still to come.
