William J. Yankowsky Jr.

STANDISH – William J. Yankowsky Jr., 87, passed away on Sunday March 19, 2023, at his home with family at his side.

He was born in Portland on Jan. 31, 1936, son of the late William and Helen (Murray) Yankowsky. He graduated from Standish High School in 1955 and was known as an outstanding basketball player.

He served in the Merchant Marines for two years and was employed for 34 years at the S.D. Warren Paper Company.

William will be remembered for his love of fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Brown) Yankowsky of 65 years; son, Alan Yankowsky, daughters Wendy Yankowsky, Sandy Pease, and Janet Irvine; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He will be fishing in Heaven forever!

A celebration of William’s life will be held on June 17 at 715 River Rd., Standish from 1 to 4 p.m.
