Billy Albertson, Skowhegan junior: Albertson won both the long jump (21 feet, 11 3/4 inches) and triple jump (45-5) and the Class A state meet. He was the runner-up in the long jump at the New England championships (22-7 1/2).

 

 

Adam Bendetson, Scarborough senior: At the Class A state meet, Bendetson won the 2-mile (9 minutes, 31.52 seconds) and took fourth in the mile (4:25). Then he dropped his best time by 6 seconds to win in the 2-mile (9:13.99) at New Englands.

Nathan Blades, Portland junior: Blades took second in the mile (4:22.38) and third in the 2-mile (9:59.4) at the Class A state meet. He also posted the fastest time in the 800 (1:54.72) during the season.

 

 

 

Miles Burr, Mt. Desert Island junior: Burr won the 55 dash at the Class B state meet after setting a Class B record of 6.47 in the trials. He also won the 200 in a state-record time of 22.34 and finished second in the triple jump (45-1 1/2). He was second in the 55 (6.48) and fourth in the 300 (34.9) at New Englands, and his 200-meter time of 21.83 at the New Balance nationals was the fastest in state history.

Matt Charpentier, York senior: Charpentier improved his own Class B record in the shot put with a mark of 57-10 1/2 at the state meet, then set another personal best while placing second at New Englands (59-8 3/4).

James Cognata, St. Dominic senior: Cognata finished first in the 800 (1:58.96) and fifth in the 200 (23.64) to help lead St. Dom’s to its first Class B state title. He led the state in the 400 with a time (50.12) that was faster than the Class B record.

 

 

Corbin Flewelling, Old Town senior: Flewelling won the Class B long jump (21-8), triple jump (45-5 1/2) and high jump (6-2). He was fifth in the long jump (21-11 1/4) at New Englands.

Nolan Garey, Poland senior: Garey successfully defended his Class B title in the 55 hurdles, winning with a state-record time of 7.62. He also took third at the New England meet (7.70).

 

 

 

Maddox Jordan, Noble junior: Jordan won the 800 (2:00.56) and mile (4:20.65) at the Class A state meet. His time in the mile was the fastest in the state this winter.

Reece Perry, Freeport junior: Perry broke a 37-year-old Class B record in the pole vault with his mark of 14-1. His vault of 14-3 during the regular season was the best in the state this winter.

 

 

 

COACH OF THE YEAR

Dan Campbell, St. Dominic Academy: After learning that he was in remission from a second bout with cancer, Campbell resumed his old job and guided St. Dom’s to its first indoor track title. With only five runners competing at the Class B state meet, the Saints scored 57 points to edge defending champion York.
