Athletes from six southern Maine schools will compete in the Class C outdoor track and field championships today at 2 p.m. at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft.
The meet was postponed Saturday because of inclement weather.
North Yarmouth Academy, Waynflete, Sacopee Valley, Freeport, Traip Academy and Seacoast Christian have athletes registered for the meet. NYA is the defending boys’ champion, and John Bapst of Bangor is the defending girls’ champion.
In the girls’ field, Traip’s Carley O’Brien has the top qualifying time in the 100 hurdles (16.14 seconds) and long jump (16 feet, 31/2 inches), and teammate Mary Lambrecht has the top qualifying time in the 400 (1 minute, 2.45 seconds.
NYA’s Hannah Bewsey has the top qualifying mark in the high jump at 5-31/2.
In the boys’ field, NYA’s Henry Sterling is the defending Class C champion in the 1,600-meter run and has the best entry time of 4:25.34. He also holds the top qualifying time in the 3,200 (9:20.90), and teammate Mohamed Dahia has the top time in the 110 hurdles (16.32). Sacopee Valley’s Nick Vacchiano is the top qualifier in the pole vault (12-6).
Traip has the top qualifying time in the 400 relay (45.25) and NYA in the 3,200 relay (8:30.60).
All competitors will be eligible to qualify for the New England championships, scheduled for Saturday in New Britain, Conn.
