Harlan E. Moody

BUXTON – Harlan E. Moody, 91, of River Road, passed away Tuesday March 7, 2023 at his son’s residence.

He was born May 4, 1931, the son of Vernon and Florence Littlefield Moody. Harlan grew up in Westbrook, attending Bridgton Academy and Michigan State. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean Conflict.

After his service to his country, he returned home and was a bookkeeper for the Central Maine Railroads. In later years he drove truck for Dead River Oil.

Harlan was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Missionary Alliance, where he served as a deacon. He was very active in his church, a man of faith and also enjoyed his vegetable garden.

Harlan was predeceased by his wife, Jody Moody.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan Moody of Buxton and wife Sandra, a daughter, Sally VanSykel of Buxton and husband Roland; a brother, Ronald Moody of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A spring graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park Saturday May 7, at 11 a.m. where Harlan and Jody will be laid to rest.

Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Rd., Buxton, is in charge of the services.
