
Hires, promotions, appointments
Sebago Technics in South Portland hired three new employees.
Zack Jackson was hired as a transportation engineer. Jackson is a recent graduate of the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He was an intern over the summer and fall and now joins the company full-time.

Barth Mayengo was hired as a technician in computer-assisted design, assigned to Texas Instruments. He is a Southern Maine Community College student studying architectural and engineering design. He grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo and now resides in Maine.
Margo Barajas was hired as a licensed landscape architect. She has over 4 years of experience as a landscape designer and project manager with local landscape architecture firms.


East Pine, an interior plant design company, has partnered with Hay Runner, a Portland design, construction and real estate business. Founder Amalia Bussard and plant care specialist Sara Kosicki join Hay Runner’s team to operate the services now called Hay Runner Plant Design by East Pine.

Giving back
Town and Country Federal Credit Union, based in Scarborough, gave a $5,000 check to support the South Portland Food Cupboard’s annual benefit concert fundraiser in May. The credit union will provide an additional $5,000-plus in support through radio advertising for a total contribution of over $10,000.

Maine GearShare was awarded a $30,000 Catalyst Grant by Kennebec Savings Bank. GearShare, based in Brunswick and launched in 2022, promotes accessible outdoor recreation by maintaining and lending out equipment to educators and guides. The grant will allow them to purchase more inventory, reach a wider audience and more.
Recognition
The Maine Real Estate and Development Association awarded individuals for their contributions to the field.
Josh Fifield was awarded the Robert B. Patterson Jr. Founder’s Award. Fifield is the vice president of the business insurance department at Clark Insurance in Portland. In 2014, he volunteered as a committee member on the MEREDA marketing and membership committee and then joined the board of directors in 2017, when he was also awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award. Most recently, he served as president of the membership committee from 2020-2022.
Ben Brennan was chosen for the Volunteer of the Year Award. Brennan is the senior sales executive for Kone Elevators, located in South Portland. In 2021, he served on MEREDA’s board of directors. Recently, he joined the Local Issues Committee and has requested to become a co-chairperson.
