Kino Lilly Jr. made three straight 3-pointers to cap a 17-3 run in the second half, and Brown ended Maine’s four-game winning streak with a 70-63 men’s basketball victory Sunday afternoon in Providence, Rhode Island.
Lilly scored 11 of his 32 points during the decisive surge that turned a 47-44 lead for Brown (2-4) into a 64-47 cushion.
Kellen Tynes led Maine (4-2) with 24 points. Kristians Feierbergs added 12 and Gedi Juozapaitis scored 10.
BATES 87, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 57: Steph Baxter had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Bobcats (2-2) beat the Nor’easters (2-5) in Lewiston.
Brady Coyne added 11 points, while Jahmir Primer and Devin Harris each scored 10.
Zach Boulay paced UNE with 12 points.
BOWDOIN 82, BABSON 74: James McGowan scored 26 of his 28 points in the second half, and the Polar Bears (3-2) erased a 12-point second-half deficit in a win over the Beavers (4-3) at Brunswick.
Bowdoin took the lead for good, 66-65, on a basket by Xander Werkman. McGowan followed with seven straight points to make it 73-65.
Werkman finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Michael Simonds had 16 points and three steals.
COLBY 73, SALVE REGINA 69: Alec McGovern’s tiebreaking 3-pointer with less than eight minutes remaining started a 10-0 run, and the Mules (6-0) held on to beat the Seahawks (1-5) in Newport, Rhode Island.
Noah Tyson scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half as Colby led by as many as 13 points.
Jonah Obi finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, Jack Lawson added 11 points and McGovern scored 10.
UMAINE-FARMINGTON 67, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 59: Terion Moss scored 14 points as the Beavers (4-1) beat the SeaWolves (7-3) in South Portland.
Nathan Poulin chipped in with 12 points, while Zachary Mickle and Kyle Donlin each added 11 for UMF.
SMCC’s DeSean Cromwell finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jack Pyzynski had 14 points and eight rebounds.
SUNY POLY 79, ST. JOSEPH’S 61: Griffin Foley led the Monks (3-4) with 18 points in a loss to the Wildcats (4-3) at Schnectady, New York.
(18) ALABAMA 103, (1) NORTH CAROLINA 101: Mark Sears had 24 points, five rebounds and five assists, and the Crimson Tide (6-1) sent the Tar Heels (5-2) to a second straight loss in a quadruple-overtime thriller at the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Oregon.
Jahvon Quinerly added 21 points off the bench for the Crimson Tide, while Charles Bediako had 14 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. Brandon Miller also scored 14 points.
Caleb Love led the Tar Heels with 34 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Armando Bacot contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, and R.J. Davis had 19 points and nine rebounds.
(24) PURDUE 75, (8) DUKE 56: Zach Edey had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and the Boilermakers (6-0) routed the Blue Devils (6-2) in the championship game of the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland, Oregon.
(12) MICHIGAN STATE 78, PORTLAND 77: Tyson Walker scored 15 points to lead five scorers in double figures, and the Spartans (5-2) held off the Pilots (5-4) in the fifth place game of the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Oregon.
(13) AUBURN 65, SAINT LOUIS 60: Wendell Green Jr. scored 22 points and the Tigers (7-0) reeled off 11 straight in the closing minutes for a victory over the Billikens (5-2) in Auburn, Alabama.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
ST. JOSEPH’S 58, SOUTHERN MAINE 42: The Monks (4-2) held USM (1-3) to 29 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers in a win over the Huskies at Standish.
Angelica Hurley led St. Joseph’s with 16 points, while Hannah Talon scored 12.
Amy Fleming, with 13 points, was the lone double-figure scorer for USM.
TUFTS 69, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 55: Maggie Russell had 25 points and eight rebounds to lift the Jumbos (5-0) over the Nor’easters (4-3) in Medford, Massachusetts.
Kaylee Beyor scored 16 points and Keagan Dunbar had 12 points for UNE. Jordyn Franzen grabbed 11 rebounds.
WPI 56, BATES 54: Victoria Mirecki completed a three-point play with 1.9 seconds left to lift the Engineers (4-1) over the Bobcats (2-2) in Lewiston.
Mirecki finished with 15 points.
Meghan Graff scored 28 points for Bates, but nobody else reached double figures. Elsa Daulerio had 10 rebounds.
SOUTHERN MAINE CC 66, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 44: Maddy York scored 20 points to lead the SeaWolves (7-1) past the Beavers (1-5) in South Portland.
Jaylyn Bartolome added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Ashleigh Mathisen had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Grace Dwyer scored 11 points and Jayln Stacy finished with 10 for UMF.

Boston, the reigning Associated Press Player of the Year, took a hard fall on a drive to the basket late in the second quarter and needed several moments to stand up. Soon after, she headed to the locker room.

COLBY 3, JOHNSON & WALES 2: Tyler Crist’s goal late in the second period capped Colby’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit against the Wildcats (0-10) in the Colby/Bowdoin Classic at Brunswick.
Clay Korpi and Jack Sullivan also scored, and Carter Breitenfeldt and John McElaney each had two assists for the Mules (4-0).
BOWDOIN 6, UMASS BOSTON 0: Jesse Lycan and Ethan Kimball each notched a goal and assist as the Polar Bears (4-0) trounced the Beacons (2-8) in the Colby/Bowdoin Classic at Brunswick.
Albert Washco, Jack Studley, Chris Brown and Joe Alexander also scored for Bowdoin, which led 4-0 after one period.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
COLBY 4, BOWDOIN 1: Tate Senden scored twice during Colby’s three-goal first period, and the Mules (3-0) beat the Polar Bears (2-2) in the championship game of the Codfish Bowl in Boston.
Stephanie Lane also scored in the first period for Colby, Meg Rittenhouse got an empty-netter in the final minute, and Paige Bolyard made 28 saves. Her shutout bid ended when Bowdoin’s Anyi Sun scored with 4:51 remaining.
FOOTBALL
AP POLL: Michigan moved up to No. 2 in The Associated Press poll, with TCU at No. 3 and Southern California at No. 4 behind top-ranked Georgia after four top-10 teams lost on the final day of the regular season.
Georgia (12-0) is No. 1 for the eighth straight week, with 58 first-place votes. Michigan received the other five. The Wolverines (12-0) reached a season-high No. 2 after beating Ohio State, which dropped the Buckeyes three spots to No. 5.
TCU (12-0) has its highest ranking since reaching No. 2 in the 2015 season, and USC (11-1) has its best ranking this late in the season since finishing the 2016 season at No. 3.
WISCONSIN: Athletic Director Chris McIntosh announced that the Badgers had hired Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell to take over Wisconsin’s program after a successful run with the Bearcats.
Fickell posted a 57-18 record in six seasons at Cincinnati and helped the Bearcats earn a College Football Playoff berth last year. The former Ohio State defensive lineman went 6-7 as the Buckeyes’ interim coach in 2011 after Jim Tressel’s resignation.
