Burman, 43, was appointed to the Ward 4 council seat in December 2020 to fill the unexpired term of Lynn Copeland, who was elected to the Maine House of Representatives.

Philip Hatch was unopposed in Ward 5 for a three-year council term and drew 1,142 votes. Hatch was appointed in April 2021 to fill the unexpired term of former councilor Alan Minthorn, who resigned earlier that year.

Voters also agreed to provide a ceremonial office for the mayor in city hall for the conduct of official functions, at a location determined by the city administrator, 6,319-2,683. City Clerk Michele Hughes said the new provision is effective July 1, 2023.
