Elaine Mildred Walls
FALMOUTH – Elaine Mildred Walls passed away Oct. 7 2022. Elaine was born December 31, 1933 in Livermore Falls to Karl and Verna Sewall. She graduated from Portland High School where she met John Walls. They were in cadets together in high school which was one of her proud achievements as well as working as a hairdresser.
After marriage, they raised five boys in Falmouth residing there for 60 years. Elaine enjoyed entertaining pool parties, taking vacations to Barbados, Niagara Falls, Boston, and Rangeley. Elaine loved babies and had the knack to comfort them. She loved poems writing some of her own and was proud of her McIver ancestry. She enjoyed dancing and was proud of her grandchildrens achievements attending many events and will also be remembered for her spaghetti sauce. Elaine belonged to the Pythian Sisters, Rebekahs as Noble Grand but is most proud of her 75-plus years in the Grange. Elaine was the second of five generations belonging to Deering Grange achieving Past Master and also the first female to become Master of Cumberland Pomona. Together with John they were past State Grange Deputies, Past Assistant Stewards winning the state contest for their precise floorwork. Elaine became Ceres of the State Grange and will be remembered for her degree work and installations.
Later in life Elaine worked for the Hannaford Bakery in Falmouth. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, siblings Kenneth, Rita and Lloyd Sewall as well as her husband John. Survivors include her children Kenneth and wife Roberta of Gorham, Gary and wife Cheryl of Topsham, Kevin and Wife Donna of Gorham, Gordon and wife Betty of Gorham, David and wife Sokkong of Falmouth, 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Special thanks to the third-floor staff at St Andre Health Care in Biddeford for their exceptional care. Visitation will be held Friday October 14, from 4-7 p.m., with a Grange service at 6:30 p.m., at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland. Funeral service Saturday October 15 at 10 a.m., at the same location. Interment will be at the Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth following the service.
