As a mother of young children, one thing I know for certain is that nobody knows my children like I do or what is best for them like their parents do. Our children are precious to us beyond words, and as their mother I have the role of nurturer, protector and positive role model.
I don’t take kindly to that role being infringed upon whether it is by a doctor, school personnel or a government agency. Those folks aren’t helping my children through nightmares or sicknesses. My kids are my and my husband’s responsibility.
I support Barbara Bagshaw for state representative because she stands for parents. That is a role she is not seeking to diminish. Instead, she sees it as a sacred trust. If you are a parent who takes that responsibility seriously, I urge you to vote for Barbara on Nov. 8.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
