Hula hoop workshop
Portland Public Library is hosting a Teen SuperHooper Heroes Workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday in the library’s Rines Auditorium.
Participants will learn from hula hoop teacher and performer Pinto Bella, who will share information about hula hooping and how it benefits our bodies and minds, followed by a performance, lessons and group games.
The workshop is free.
Benefit for lighthouse trust
The Flatbread Co. restaurant in the Old Port will host a benefit night on behalf of the Spring Point Ledge Light Trust from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at 72 Commercial St.
Flatbread will donate $3.50 for each large flatbread and $1.75 for each small flatbread sold during the benefit. In addition, the trust’s volunteers will hold a raffle for lighthouse-related prizes.
All proceeds will be used by the trust to maintain and preserve the lighthouse and keep it available to the public during their summer weekend open houses.
Alzheimer’s info session
An information session, “Alzheimer’s and Living Life with Meaning,” will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Portland Public Library’s Riverton Branch.
Participants will learn how the Early Stage Social Engagement Program and other Alzheimer’s Association services may help you or your loved one living with dementia make the most of the time available to them.

Memoir writer will speak
The Pasco Lecture Series welcomes Laura Munson to read from her memoir, “This is Not the Story You Think It Is,” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library, 18 Maine St.
A book signing and reception will follow. The series is sponsored by Kennebunk Savings Bank, The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation and the Graves Library Snack Team.

YARMOUTH
Talk on town baseball team
The Yarmouth History Center will host Talk of the Townies, a special program about Yarmouth’s own Townies baseball team, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the center.
On hand to speak will be Jim Baumer, author of “When Towns Had Teams,” about town teams in Maine during the mid-20th century.
Organizers are encouraging the public to bring photos and other memorabilia related to the Townies to share during this event. This is a free program.
Baumer’s book will be available for purchase and autographs.
YORK
Library seeks books for sale
York Public Library will hold its annual book sale from Thursday night through Saturday.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers. The group is accepting donations of books, especially current fiction, children’s books, DVDs, CDs and audio books on CD. Items must be in good condition.
Donations can be dropped off in the children’s craft area.

Bottle drive to help needy
St. Augustine Anglican Church will hold its annual bottle drive from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at 168 North St., the Grange building.
The bottle drive helps St. Augustine raise funds to assist the less fortunate. The church supports numerous outreach programs, including York County Shelter Programs and the Saco Food Pantry, and provides backpacks and school supplies to the county’s homeless schoolchildren.
Parishioners will be collecting cans and bottles of all types and redeeming them locally to support these programs.
