Charlie Furbush, the Seattle Mariners’ reliever from South Portland, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis, according to the Seattle Times.
The move is retroactive to July 8. Furbush pitched an inning Tuesday against the Tigers and struck out three before experiencing tenderness in his biceps the next day.
“We don’t think it’s serious,” said Manager Lloyd McClendon. “That’s why we’re doing this, so it won’t be serious. With the All-Star break coming up, it just makes sense to get this thing quieted down and get him ready for the second half.”
Furbush has a 2.08 ERA in 33 appearances this season and has stranded all 16 inherited runners.
