Gloria J. Sawyer

SUN CITY, Fla. – Gloria, 95, passed peacefully June 21, 2022. Born Oct. 8, 1926, in Hollis, she lived in Sun City Center, Fla. for 22 years, spending many summers in Maine.

A mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and good friend, Gloria took all under her wing. An amazing seamstress, she created dresses in mere hours. A woman of deep Christian faith, Gloria faithfully attended Sunday Baptist services. She loved cooking, creating recipes, and helping others. No one left Gloria’s home hungry.

She never missed a good “yard” sale, as there were always bargains to be found. And those hats—never leaving home without a stylish one—even to the store! A creative short story author, at 74, Gloria wrote her first book, “The Golden Years Are Here,” publishing four more books, her last entitled “Laughter and Errors” in 2014 at the age of 87.

She will be greatly missed.
