The Northern New England Retiree Councils and the New Hampshire National Guard will host the 24th annual Northern New England Military Retiree Activity Day on Aug. 27 at the New Hampshire National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility, 26 Regional Dr., Concord, N.H. This event is held in cooperation with Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, New Hampshire National Guard and the Army Retiree Councils from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The purpose of the event is to give New England military retirees, from all branches of service, as well as gray area retirees and family members, an opportunity to gather the latest information on benefits and services that are available to them. Military retirees and their spouses from all of the northern New England states are invited to attend.
Coffee and light pastries will be available in the morning, and a light lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. For more details, contact CSM (Ret.) Michael F. Rice, co-chairman at nhscsm@gmail.com or call (603) 493-4918.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
