Work is underway at Knight’s Pond in Cumberland, where the White Trail along the shore is being relocated farther inland with the goal of improving and protecting wildlife habitat, eliminating erosion and providing a more user-friendly and sustainable trail surface. Several spur trails will still allow access to the pond.
At Greely Woods, gravel is being added to areas that become soft during wet weather, and in Rines Forest, the Public Works Department just started a major effort to restore the trail surface along the northeastern perimeter of the property.
Visitors may continue to access all the trails, including the new trail at Knight’s Pond, but are asked to use caution around areas under construction.
