Two Damariscotta men have been arrested and are suspects in a string of burglaries that were reported thoughout Lincoln County.

Lt. Michael Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Christopher Gove, 20, and 21-year-old Cody Beal, 21, who were arrested Friday, have been charged with burglary.

According to a statement from Murphy, investigators received information that Gove had burglarized a storage unit in Newcastle and stolen coins.

Search warrants were obtained for surveillance photos of Gove and Beal pawning coins at the Maine-Ly Pawn Shop in Damariscotta. Police interviewed the men, who admitted their involvement, Murphy said.

Police said coins and jewelry primarily have been stolen in recent burglaries, and police consider Gove and Beal suspects in 13 other burglaries, many of which involved residences and summer homes in Alna, Bristol, Bremen, Damariscotta, Jefferson, Newcastle and Nobleboro.
