This month’s message from The Woolwich Historical Society
The Woolwich Historical Society was organized in 1978 by a group of dedicated citizens whose fondest wish was to preserve the history of the Town. This has continued to be done through events, membership, and education.
We operate a 200 year old farmhouse and barn as a museum during the summer months – open Sundays from 12-4 during June, July & August, and by appointment.
The Society has participated in a variety of events throughout the previous years, including Woolwich Day, Town sponsored Memorial Day and Veteran’s Days events, and the Patten Free Library’s Town History Series in January & February. Each fall we choose an individual, couple, family or business from Woolwich to honor at our Annual Recognition Dinner. This is a special, enjoyable time to highlight the achievements and service given to our community and Society.

We are proud to serve as a local history resource for both genealogical and general town history inquiries, as well as a field trip destination for local schools.
We sincerely thank those who support our Society! Fundraising is always a challenge, especially during the last two years, as we have all dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic. We are sure all non-profits have experienced the same difficulties.
Many of the rooms and exhibits within our museum building have been updated. We are delighted in what’s been accomplished – it’s beautiful! We are located at the corner of U.S. Route 1 and Nequasset Road. We hope you will plan to visit this summer!
