A Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office deputy was killed Sunday in a snowmobile crash in Limestone.
Staff Sgt. Bobbie Pelletier died after an accident, Sheriff Troy Morton said in a statement posted online. Morton did not release more details.
Limestone is East of Caribou and borders Canada.
Pelletier had been a deputy since 2008, was promoted to corporal in 2015 and to staff sergeant the following year.
He was in charge of the Hermon deputy program.
“Staff Sgt. Pelletier will be sadly missed by his family, friends and co-workers,” Morton wrote in the Facebook post. “Out of respect for Staff Sgt. Pelletier’s family during this difficult time no further information will be released at this moment.”
