An Athens man is dead following an early-morning car accident Wednesday, police said.

Killed in the single-vehicle rollover on Hartland Road in Athens was Chad E. Flanders, 39, according to a release from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. The accident was reported at 1:02 a.m.

Police said Flanders, driving a 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck that he bought Tuesday, was driving east on Hartland Road when he veered off the road, over-corrected and rolled over. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the truck, police said.

Flanders’s license was suspended at the time of the crash, police said.
