BOSTON – Patricia Geary, 79, a longtime resident at Hawthorne Place in Boston, passed away at home on Jan. 23, 2022, after a brief period of failing health.

Patricia was born in Portland on June 13, 1942, to John J. Geary and Mary R. Vessal.

Patricia attended local schools in Portland, including St. Dominic’s grammar school, and graduated from Portland High School with the class of 1959.

Following high school graduation, she moved to Boston and lived on Beacon Hill before eventually moving to Hawthorne Place in the Charles River area. During her years of employment, she worked for Hanover Insurance Company as an underwriter and eventually obtained employment as an executive secretary with the Boston firm of Rice, Heard, and Bigelow, Inc. from where she eventually retired.

She was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her two sisters, Joyce Geary Coughlan of Wells, and Barbara Geary Munroe of Cambridge, Mass. Additionally, she is survived by nephews Geary Munroe and his brother Jason Munroe of Massachusetts and David Coughlan of Pennsylvania and his brother Tyler Coughlan of California. She is also survived by a niece, Keri Munroe in Troy, N.Y.

While a loving aunt to all, she was especially close to her nephews Geary and Jason Munroe due to their proximity in Greater Boston. Patricia was very fond of music and especially enjoyed the Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger. She also enjoyed her many friends at Hathorne Place and was grateful for their support and kindness over the years.

A private service will be held at a later date this summer in Wells where Patricia will be interred with her mother at Ocean View Cemetery.
