The North Yarmouth Historical Society’s Old Town House moved from its original location on Memorial Highway to the Village Green on Walnut Hill Road Dec. 15. Historical Society President Katie Murphy said she hopes the circa-1853 Town House will now be “a historic anchor in the middle of town” and be used more often. The historical society is raising funds for renovations and restoration, with a goal of having the building accessible by late summer 2022. To date, $600,000 of the $750,000 goal has been realized. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
