Police say that the body of 55-year-old Wendy Lewis, the Freeport woman reported missing July 8, was discovered by a fisherman a few miles off the coast of Boothbay on July 10 around 3:30 p.m.
According to Maine State Medical Examiner Office Administrator Lindsey Chasteen, the autopsy of Lewis has been completed by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner but no further information is being released at this time.
“This is an ongoing investigation and we will continue working with our law enforcement partners from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and Maine State Medical Examiners Office gathering information to determine what happened to Ms. Lewis,” wrote Freeport Police Chief Nate Goodman in a news release. “Lastly, our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Lewis’ family during this difficult time.”
Police said that Lewis was last seen on security camera footage around 3:15 p.m. on July 7 in Brunswick at the Dunkin’. Her vehicle was found in Bristol that same day.
