Former Standish Town Councilor Philip Pomerleau has requested a recount of the June 8 election that he lost by five votes, according to the town clerk.

Councilor Gregory LeClerc defeated Pomerleau for the Area 1 seat 443-438.
The recount is a public proceeding and will take place at 10 a.m. June 29 in the Standish Municipal Building.
At a special meeting Saturday, the council elected LeClerc as its chairperson. Councilor Sarah Gaba, who is two years into her three-tear term in the council, was elected vice chairperson.
LeClerc and Gaba replace Kimberly Pomerleau and Brian Libby in those positions, respectively.
This story was updated June 15 to include the information about the recount.
