Memorial Day weekend: the unofficial start to summer.

This year, Memorial Day certainly will not feel much like it. Monday looks pretty similar to the weekend overall.

NEWS CENTER Maine

Heavy rain starts to wrap up on Monday morning. Minor improvements are expected by the afternoon, but some showers are still going to pass.

This is not ideal timing for the rain, but we did need it pretty badly. Most spots will end up with at least an inch of rain total by Monday evening, with a few areas approaching two inches total.

High temperatures on Memorial Day will also add to the raw feel. Most will top out in the mid to upper 50s.

In true Maine fashion, keep a jacket around for the last day of May.

Milder weather is expected on Wednesday, too. Highs return to the mid 70s with a mix of sun and clouds.

Late Wednesday, humidity starts to build back in.

After this next system exits on Friday, summer heat builds back in.

NEWS CENTER Maine

It looks like next weekend could be wicked warm. High temperatures will be in the 80s on both Saturday and Sunday, but there is still a chance that those numbers get bumped up even higher.

Factor in the humidity, and it will feel just like the summah days we know and love. Maybe Memorial Day really is the unofficial start to the new season…
