Like many long-term Cumberland residents, I will be voting for Mark Segrist for Cumberland Town Council on June 8.
I first met Mark at a committee meeting several years ago, I knew immediately that he had the ideas, energy and talent that Cumberland both needed and deserved. Whether it be working to lower property taxes by welcoming more small businesses, preserving open spaces to help protect Cumberland’s lands and natural resources, or better connecting and bringing together in the community, Mark has the dedication, tenor and passion needed to help move Cumberland forward.
I have a great deal of admiration and respect for those who have served on the council; it is time to pass the baton to a new generation of community leaders and to gain a new way our town can best bring together its residents.
Join me in voting for Mark Segrist for Town Council.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
