U.S. News and World Report recently ranked 17,857 public high schools across the entire United States. Greely High School in Cumberland is again ranked as the best high school in the state of Maine.
Extreme credit must be given to the students, faculty and school administrators for achieving this tremendous honor.
Our family moved to Cumberland about 25 years ago. We did so mostly because of the favorable reputation of the entire Cumberland school system. Getting this national recognition is well deserved. Credit must also be given to the towns of Cumberland and North Yarmouth and to the parents of the students for insisting that the best education possible would be made available to all the students throughout the various grade levels.
I congratulate you all and thank you for making us proud once again.
P.S. Kennebunk was No. 2; Falmouth, No. 3; Cape Elizabeth, No. 4.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
