CHICAGO — Jake Marisnick homered and matched a career high with five RBI, and the Chicago Cubs pounded the Milwaukee Brewers 15-2 on Friday for their fourth straight victory.

Anthony Rizzo, Javier Báez and Willson Contreras also connected for Chicago, which was coming off a three-game sweep of the New York Mets. Nico Hoerner had three hits in his first start of the season.

Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks (1-2) pitched six innings of two-run ball in his first win of the season. He struck out six and walked one, bouncing back nicely after a rough start against Atlanta.

Milwaukee had won three in a row. Kolten Wong and Billy McKinney hit consecutive homers in the sixth, but that was it for the Brewers’ offense.

Wong finished with three hits in his first game since April 8. He had been sidelined by an oblique injury.

Brewers left-hander Brett Anderson (2-2) departed because of right knee discomfort after throwing just 11 pitches.

After Contreras grounded out, Kris Bryant and Rizzo doubled and Báez singled before Anderson was replaced by Josh Lindblom. Marisnick added a three-run double and Hoerner capped Chicago’s six-run first with an RBI double.

Rizzo and Báez hit consecutive homers in the second, and Marisnick added another solo drive in the fourth. Contreras hit his sixth homer off Angel Perdomo in the sixth.

METS 6, NATIONALS 0: Jacob deGrom struck out a career-high 15, pitched a two-hitter and boosted the sagging Mets’ offense with a go-ahead double from the No. 8 spot in the batting order, powering New York to a win at New York.

DeGrom has struck out 43 in his last three starts and 50 overall this season, breaking the major league record for most strikeouts in a pitcher’s first four starts that was set just last weekend by Cleveland ace Shane Bieber with 48.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner retired the final 19 batters of his second shutout and fourth complete game in 187 starts.

Matz (4-0), acquired from the New York Mets in January, gave up three runs and five hits over five innings. The lefty went 0-5 with a 9.68 ERA with New York last year.

Toronto also got a solo homer from Randal Grichuk. Rafael Dolis, the fourth reliever, worked the ninth for his first save.

Randy Arozarena hit a three-run homer for the Rays. Tyler Glasnow (2-1), who entered with an ERA of 0.73, allowed five runs and five hits and struck out 10 in six innings.

ATHLETICS 3, ORIOLES 1: Ramón Laureano homered and Cole Irvin won consecutive starts for the first time in nearly two years as visiting Oakland earned its 12th consecutive victory – its longest winning streak in almost two decades.

YANKEES 5, INDIANS 3: Giancarlo Stanton busted out of his slump with two rocketed home runs – one with the highest exit velocity this season – and New York connected four times in a win at Cleveland.

Stanton hit a 429-foot solo shot in the third inning off Logan Allen (1-3) and another in the fifth for his first multi-homer game since Sept. 27, 2018. New York has won two straight and three of four after a horrendous start. The Yankees overcame a 3-0 first-inning deficit for the second game in a row.

Infielder Travis Blankenhorn and catcher Tomás Telis were returned to the team’s alternate training site, and outfielders Alex Kirilloff and Tzu-Wei Lin and infielder Nick Gordon were promoted to fill the open roster spots.

ADRIAN GARRETT, who spent eight seasons in the major leagues and then went on to a coaching career, has died. He was 78.
