For the birds

Forty birdhouses will adorn a new park at Gray Corner. Community members or businesses can order a plain house to decorate or custom houses may be ordered. All the houses will be collected and the installation will be completed in May. Contact cedc@graymaine.org for more information or graymaine.org for details.
CEDC Mural Project extended
The Gray Community and Economic Committee is looking for three more winning entries to be painted on heavy boards placed on sections of the wooden fence at the Gray Town Hall. All residents and students are invited to submit a few of their original designs. New entries will be accepted until May 1. Visit graymaine.org for more information.
Time to browse books
On Feb. 16, the Gray Public Library will reopen its doors for in-person browsing, with the same guidelines in place that they had when they closed in December. Patrons are required to wear a mask and keep at least 6 feet of distance from other patrons and staff members. Visits are limited to 30 minutes. All public seating is still removed from the library. Curbside service continues to be available.
Staying safe
The First Congregational Church of Gray recently received a request for help regarding the exhausted face mask supplied at Russell School. Four church volunteers got to work and produced 64 child-sized masks. Thanks to these individuals and the church for filling a community need.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
