
WESTBROOK — Greenfield Place, a 26-unit condo project near the Gorham line, received unanimous approval from the Planning Board Tuesday.
The Planning Board also reviewed plans for three duplexes and one triplex on Bridge Street.
Greenfield Place, to be built off New Gorham Road near Mosher Corner, will feature single-family homes built in six architectural styles. The condos will line a private road that ends in a cul-de-sac.
“It will be an asset to the city, especially that section, and it will bring in more people and make Westbrook better,” Planning Board Chairperson Rene Daniel said.
Board member Joseph Marden, who owns property at the site, recused himself from the vote. There was no public comment on the development.
Dustin Roma, representing developer Bramblewood, said previously they wanted to start the project as soon as possible upon approval.
The board tabled a vote Chase Custom Homes’ plan for the multi-unit housing at 511 Bridge St. because the developer was not able to make it due to weather.
Chase had received approval in October 2019 for a large day care on the site, but withdrew those plans in December 2020 citing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Planner Larry McWilliams noted that an abandoned home on the site had already been demolished without receiving the required approval.
City Director of Planning Jennie Franceschi said the demolition permit has been taken out and as a penalty for the early demolition, Chase will pay double the permit fee, $325.
“The permit is in the process and the applicant is working to correct the issue,” Franceschi said.
