The Portland Water District is urging motorists to avoid Shore Road near the entrance to Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth as crews try to repair a water main break.

Michelle Clements, a spokeswoman for the water district, confirmed that a water main break was reported around 4 p.m. Sunday in the vicinity of 999 Shore Road.

Clements was unable to offer a timetable for completing the repairs.
