Hayden Owen, South Portland football: Owen scored three touchdowns, including the winner, as the Red Riots upset defending Class A state champion Bonny Eagle 21-14 last Friday night. Owen caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Nick Mezzanotte with 44 seconds left.
Honorable mention
Adam Labrie, Yarmouth soccer: Labrie scored two goals, including the second-half winner in a 5-3 win against Cape Elizabeth. He also scored two goals with an assist in a 5-0 win versus Freeport.
Ryan Moody, Bonny Eagle soccer: After a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 3-0 win against Sanford, he notched the only goal in a 1-1 tie against Thornton as the Scots improved to 2-1-1.
Joe Esposito, Portland football: Esposito ran back two interceptions for touchdowns to carry the Bulldogs past Deering, 42-14. He returned one 80 yards for his team’s first touchdown, then another 50 yards in the third quarter.
Girls
Jocelyn Mitiguy, Greely soccer: After scoring two goals with an assist and dominating the action in a 3-1 win against rival Falmouth on Saturday, Mitiguy had all three goals in a 3-0 victory against Gray-New Gloucester on Tuesday.
Honorable mention
Devon Datsis, York field hockey: She had five goals and two assists in helping the unbeaten Wildcats to three victories. Datsis scored three goals in a 6-1 win over Greely.
Hannah Tyson, Cheverus soccer: Tyson made 15 saves in a double-overtime, 0-0 tie against previously unbeaten Marshwood. She followed with a 12-save effort in the Stags’ first win, a 2-1 defeat of McAuley.
Hashilla Rivai, Thornton Academy golf: Rivai, a student from Indonesia, shot a 31 for nine holes at Nonesuch River, then had a 34 the next day at Gorham Country Club. In five matches, Rivai has a 33.6 stroke average.
