PHIPPSBURG
A sign post has been removed from the Gamble Preserve in Phippsburg, according to the Phippsburg Land Trust, which is considering it an act of vandalism.
The missing 2×4 ft wooden sign marked the trailhead and parking lot for the preserve. One of the 4×4 posts that was holding the sign has been removed, while the other has been bent.
“No other damage was evident,” said Conservation Commission Chairperson Dan Dowd in a written statement.
The Phippsburg Land Trust, who has owned the land since 1998, opened the Gamble Preserve just this year, hosting an inaugural walk of the newly constructed trail in June. The preserve is comprised of two acres on the east shore of Carrying Place Cove.
The land trust has contacted the police in regards to the missing property.
