BRUNSWICK — Ben Citrin had a goal and an assist Wednesday as Bowdoin opened its men’s soccer season with a 2-0 win over Endicott.

Matt Dias Costas started the scoring with an early second-half goal. Daniel Melong and Andrew Jones each added an assist.

THOMAS 4, ST. JOSEPH’S 1: Thomas College scored four second-half goals to rally past St. Joseph’s College (0-3) and open its season with a win in Waterville. Sophomore Tre Ming was the key to the comeback with three assists.

BRIDGTON ACADEMY 3, SMCC 0: Malachi McDonald made nine saves in a shutout as Bridgton Academy (2-0) defeated the SeaWolves in a friendly at South Portland. Joao Oliveira had a goal and an assist, and Colin Morse and Javon Brown each scored a goal.

COLBY 3, MAINE MARITIME 0: Keith Chermin tallied his first two goals of the season as the Mules (1-0) won their opener at home over the Mariners (0-2).

BATES 0, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: The Bobcats (0-0-1) and Nor’easters (1-0-1) played to a scoreless draw after two overtime sessions in the season-opening match for Bates at Lewiston.

Sam Polito had four saves for Bates. Aidan McParland made eight saves for UNE.

FIELD HOCKEY

UNE 3, HUSSON 2: Olivia Madore scored the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute off her own rebound as the Nor’easters (1-1) defeated the Eagles (2-1) at Biddeford.

COLBY 9, THOMAS 0: Megan Fortier had a hat trick as the Mules (0-1) handled the Terriers (1-2) in a non-conference game in Waterville.

BASEBALL

SMCC 1, BRIDGTON ACADEMY 0: Tucker Lee hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning in Southern Maine Community College’s win at Bridgton Academy.

Phil Langley was 3 for 3 for the Seawolves (1-0).

Pitchers Dylan Morrow, Ian Boyle and Nate Boyle allowed just three hits.
