The New England Cross Country Championships were held at Troy Howard Middle School on Saturday.
In the boys race, Drew Thompson of Fairfield Prep in Connecticut won in 15:16.66, with Riley Fenoff of Danville, Vt., in second in 15:48.45.
The top Maine runner was Yarmouth’s Luke Laverdiere, who finished in eighth place in a time of 15:59.79.
Mt. Ararat’s Lisandro Berry-Gaviria claimed 26th in 16:17.17.
The girls’ course record fell, as two runners eclipsed the time of 17:47. Julia Robitaille of Manchester West High School won the race in a blistering time of 17:31.65.
Sophia Matson of Falmouth was the top Maine runner, finishing in 18:17.30.
Freeport’s Lily Horne ran, taking 29th in 18:55.28.
Pinkerton, N.H., was the girls team winner with 163 points, while Xavier, Conn., captured the boys title with 74 points.
