GORHAM — The Freeport High School boys and girls indoor track teams were in action on Friday at the University of Southern Maine.

The Falcons finished fourth in both Western Maine Conference meets, with the boys earning 66 points and the girls picking up 56. Greely won the girls meet, while York held off Falmouth (196-184) in a close boys meet.

The Freeport boys were paced by the 1-2 finish of Henry Jaques and Chandler Vincent in the one-mile run. Jaques crossed the line in 4:37.13, followed closely by Vincent at 4:37.57. Erik Brobst took fifth in the event, giving the Falcons 20 points.

James Knighton captured the Junior 400 in 59.89 for Freeport. Nick Mitch was second in the Junior 200 (25.96) and third in the Junior 55 (7.29).

In the girls meet, the 4 x 800 foursome of Maddie Squibb, Hannah Schnyder, Laura Pierce and Chloe Hight were first in 10:29.15.

Squibb also earned a top spot in the Senior 400 in 1:03.51, with Katie Morrissey taking third in the event in 1:07.24. In the Senior 200, Schnyder, Mikaela Fleenor and Emily Latulippe claimed spots 4-6.

In the Senior 4 x 200, Jemayla Nelsonwood, Patricia Dupere, Tatum Earlandson and Fleenor were second in 1:56.41.

In the Junior 400, Falcon Abbi King was third in a time of 1:06.17.

Freeport returns to action this upcoming Friday at USM-Gorham for the Western Maine Conference Championships. The meet begins at 4 p.m.

KVAC meet

A regular season finale Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference meet was held at Bowdoin College on Friday, with Mt. Ararat, Morse and Brunswick in action.

In the boys meet, Brunswick finished second to Lewiston, with the Dragons earning 113.50 points. Mt. Ararat was fifth with 40 points, while Morse had 12 points, good for seventh in the 10-team field.

For Brunswick, Hunter Garrett was a winner in two individual events. He captured the 55-meter dash in 6.79 and won the 200 in 23.86.

Other first-place finishers for the Dragons were Shane Lyons in the long jump (20- 03.25)andthe4x800relay (9:36.49). Keenan Welzel was second in the 800 (2:02.59), Sullivan Boyd second in the shot put (38-01) and Lyons claimed the runner-up spot in the triple jump (40-07). Aaron Gary and Erik Huntington picked up points for Brunswick in the high jump, finishing second and third, respectively. Caleb Rand was third in the pole vault, along with the 4 x 200 relay.

Cameron Meier of Mt. Ararat picked up the top spot in the two-mile run in 9:55.41, and finished third in the 400 (55.24). In the one-mile run, Eagan Eldridge and Eric French came in 2-3, with Eldridge crossing in 4:43.99 and French in 4:55.33. Also, the Eagles’ 4 x 800 relay was third.

Morse long-distance runner Chris Walfield earned points in the 800, finishing in 2:02.75 for third place.

Lewiston also captured the girls meet, edging Edward Little, 102-99. Brunswick was third with 82 points, while Mt. Ararat (62.50) was fourth and Morse seventh (18).

The girls meet started well for the Dragons, who finished first in the 4 x 800 relay in 10:46.78. Long-distance running was solid for Brunswick, with Tessa Cassidy winning the one-mile in 5:47.74 and Tiffany Tanner taking the top spot in the 800 in 2:27.61. Cassidy also claimed second in the two-mile in 12:08.40, while the 4 x 200 relay was second in 2:00.61.

Katherine Leckbee of Mt. Ararat earned the top spot in the two-mile run in 12:04.01.The4x200ofMt. Ararat was first in 1:55.54.

The Eagles claimed four second-place finishes. Runners up were Sara York (800, 2:31.12), Haley Frizzle (shot put, 26-06) and Sara Napoleon (high jump, 4-08), along with Mt. Ararat’s 4 x 800 relay (11:32.61).

Morse picked up three third-place showings — Kelsea Albertson (one-mile, 6:11.32) and Isabel Doran (800, 2:39.07 and the two-mile, 13:10.54).

Bowdoin College’s Farley Fieldhouse is the setting for the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Championships this Saturday at 9 a.m.
