WALDOBORO ( AP) — Republicans and Democrats have picked their candidates to face off in a special election to fill a vacant seat in the Maine Senate.
Republican Rep. Dana Dow will run against Democrat Chris Johnson in the Feb. 24 election.
The District 20 seat was left open when David Trahan stepped down to become executive director of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.
Dow is now a representative who held the District 20 Senate seat for two terms before Trahan was elected in 2008. Johnson unsuccessfully ran against Trahan in the 2010 election.

It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
