WASHINGTON — ASAE has announced that Curtis Picard, executive director of the Maine Merchants Association and a resident of Topsham, has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential.
According to a news release, the CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. Less than 5 percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE.
To be designated as a CAE, an applicant must have a minimum of three years experience in nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass an examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
