WISCASSET — Registration is open for two wilderness medical courses scheduled for early summer on the Chewonki Foundation campus.

The courses, led by the staff of Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA), combine morning lectures with simulations that are videotaped and critiqued, according to a Chewonki press release.

The first course, from May 30 to June 2, will cover Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA), geared toward recreationalists or trip leader who travel into moderately challenging terrain.

The second course, from June 4 to June 7, builds on the first WAFA course, upgrading that certificate to a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certificate upon completion.

Individual courses cost $400 or $525 with room and board separately. Tuition for both classes can be taken together for $675 or $895 with room and board.

Registration can be completed online at www.chewonki.org/vacations/wilderness_ medicine.asp.
