DAWN BROWN, a wildlife rehabilitator from New Sharon, will discuss Second Chance Wildlife Inc.’s work to care for orphaned bears, monitor their development and reintroduce them into the wild during a free Cathance River Education Alliance program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Topsham Public Library on Foreside Road. The presentation will include information about wildlife management techniques as well as tracking and rehabilitation. “Bears at Second Chance Wildlife, Inc. are placed in a natural habitat, and human presence is kept to a minimum, which has proven to be effective for returning them to the wild,” a release about the program states. “Data is gathered from bears during rehabilitation and again when living in the wild.” Bears that have been cared for at Second Chance Wildlife Inc. are eventually released and monitored with the help of the Maine Department Inland Fisheries Wildlife.
