Students at Harriet Beecher Stowe School in Brunswick recently celebrated food “Colors Week.” The event, which was orchestrated by school’s nutrition staff, 5-2-1-0 champions, parents and volunteers, introduced the students to a variety of fruits and vegetables of many colors. Local farmers also visited the students in the cafeteria to talk about their crops. 5-2-1-0 / Let’s Go is a healthy lifestyle program that encourages children to eat five fruits and veggies per day, engage in two hours or less of screen time per day, take part in one hour or more of physical activity, and drink zero sweetened beverages, more water and low fat milk. In the Mid-coast region, the program is coordinated by Mid Coast Hospital.
