FREEPORT —Eleanor’s latest book, ‘White Dog Fell from the Sky’, published in 2013 takes us to Botswana in 1976. As the novel opens a hearse stops, two men slide a limp body out of a coffin, and then leave. Eventually coming to life, the black South African man looks up to see a thin, ghost-like dog sitting next to him. As the young man begins his long walk in search of food and a place to sleep, the white dog follows him.
Come learn more about this vividly written “love” story, and about Eleanor’s four years living, traveling, and working with refugees in Africa. White Dog Fell from the Sky was one of O Magazine’s “16 Must Read Books” in 2013.
Light refreshments will be served, and Eleanor will be happy to sign books that will be available for purchase.
This event is free of charge. For directions to Freeport Community Library at 10 Library Drive see its website: www.freeportlibrary.com or call 865-3307.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
