BRUNSWICK — Erica French’s two-run single in the seventh inning lifted the Brunswick High School softball team to a come-frombehind 10-9 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lewiston on Tuesday.

The Dragons, who trailed 9- 2 in the fourth inning, got their first win (1-2), while the Blue Devils fell to 0-3.

Rachel Moroney had three singles, three runs scored and two RBIs for Brunswick, while Mel Bryant finished 2- for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Down 9-7 in the home half of the seventh, Bryant brought the Dragons to within a run with an RBI single. French drove Lewiston pitcher Erica Brochu’s (10 walks, seven strikeouts, 10 hits) next pitch to the outfield for a walk-off single.

Brunswick pitcher Ashley Howe earned the mound win, going the distance on eight hits, six walks and one strikeout. Howe also doubled and singled.

Meagan Mathon homered, singled and drove in three runs to lead the Lewiston offense, which also received two singles from Emily Turner.

Brunswick is slated visit Erskine Academy today at 4 p.m.

Host Leavitt scored three runs each in the first and fourth innings to down Morse in KVAC action on Tuesday.

The Shipbuilders, 0-2 and slated to host Gardiner today at 4:15 p.m., outhit the Hornets 7-5.

“The three-run innings came with two outs and errors, walks and mental mistakes,” said Morse coach Will Laffely. “We had the play both times to end the inning, but made a play at the wrong base and everyone was safe, keeping the inning going.”

Morse pitcer Jacelyn McNeill had two strikeouts and six walks, while Leavitt’s Adrianna Newton had 10 strikeouts and a walk.

McNeill doubled, while Nichole Laggan had two singles, and Katie Henrikson, Brianna Bigelow, Niesa Ryder and Lucy Rawson a single each.
