BRUNSWICK — Camille Henri Paquet, 94, resident of Parkview Circle in Brunswick, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Hawthorne House in Freeport following a long illness. He was born May 7, 1920, in Fort Kent, ME, a son of Louis Philip and Abbie Mary (Deschene) Paquet.

He was educated in Aroostook County schools and graduated from Umsaskis Lake School on the Allagash Waterway. He became a personal guide on the Allagash at the age of 14 and at the age of 19, while guiding a client on the river, was offered a job at Bath Iron Works in Bath. Camille moved to the Brunswick area in 1939 and was employed at BIW for 46 years retiring in 1985. While working at the shipyard he worked other jobs on the side including doing jobs as a painter and was a caretaker for Franklin Pierce Adams on Bailey Island.

Camille served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 449th Coast Artillery Battalion and was a member of the 4th Wave when our troops landed on Utah Beach, Normandy, France.

He was a longtime member of American Legion Post 202 and was a life member of the VFW.

Camille was a lifelong devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and the Bowdoin Polar Bears hockey team and passed that trait on to his children and grandchildren.

He enjoyed spending time with his siblings at a family camp at Clayton Lake. He truly enjoyed the great northern woods, where he spent his childhood years and acquired his love for animals.

He will be remembered for his jovial personality, generosity, and love for his family.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Florence (Paradis) Paquet, who died in 2005, four brothers, Zenon, John, Louis and Joseph Paquet, and a sister Laura Saucier.

Survivors include a son, Ernest Paquet of Brunswick, four daughters, Linda and her husband Fred Schoenfeldt of Topsham, Pauline and her husband Clifford Farr of Topsham, Jeanine and her husband James Howells of Cedar City, UT, and Ann Marie Paquet of Brunswick, three sisters, Louise Irish of Dexter, Winifred and her husband Ronald Ouellette of Augusta, Jeannine and her husband Earl Weymouth of Dover-Foxcroft, seven grandchildren, Ken and Mike Tambellini, Julie Farr Minzer and Keith Farr, Ian and Colin Howells, Derek Paquet and three greatgrandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, in St. John’s Church, Pleasant Street in Brunswick. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
