BRUNSWICK — The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association has honored the Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team in its postseason awards.
Head Coach Jason Archbell was named the NEILA Division III Coach of the Year, while three players garnered All-New England recognition.
Defenseman Parker Sessions was named First Team, goaltender Peter Mumford was named Second Team and midfielder Matthew Crowell was recognized as Third Team.
Sessions and Mumford back-boned a Bowdoin defense that was outstanding this spring. Mumford led the NESCAC in goals against average (9.17) and save percentage (. 576) this season, while Sessions ranked second on the team with 14 caused turnovers and fourth on the squad with 25 groundballs. The duo helped lead the Polar Bears to a NESCAC- best goals against average (9.17).
Crowell emerged as an excellent option in the midfield for the Polar Bears in 2016, ranking second on the team in goals (31) and dishing out 12 assists. He also grabbed 11 groundballs this spring.
The Polar Bears concluded an excellent season by advancing to the NESCAC semifinals, finishing with a 12-5 record and number 16 ranking in the final USILA Division III poll.
