AUGUSTA — With gametime temperatures hovering around the freezing mark on Saturday, the Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team warmed up quickly, scoring six first-half goals en route to a 7-0 Eastern Maine Class A victory over Cony.

“It was brutally cold and windy, plus we were missing a few players, so it was important to get out to a good start,” said Mt. Ararat coach Matt Haskell, whose team improved to 3-1 and hosts Edward Little on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Josh Richards led the way for the Eagles with three goals and an assist. Nick Dow chipped in two goals, Nick Oram one goal and one assist, Jonathan Brown one goal and two helpers, and Jeremy Hart an assist.

In goal, Ed Maguire earned the shutout on four saves.

Cony (0-4) netminder Mike Luber turned away three shots.
